Best casino apps in Ontario: legal apps for iPhone and Android

Every regulated Ontario casino works on your phone, either through an app or in your browser. BetRivers and Jackpot City have apps. Spin Casino is browser-only.

App or mobile site?

You don’t need an app. Each casino’s mobile site runs the same games, and you can deposit, withdraw and set limits from it.

An app earns its place if you play often. It opens faster and can sign you in with Face ID or a fingerprint. Stick with the browser if you’d rather not install anything, or if the app’s ratings are poor.

Why does a casino app need my location?

Ontario’s rules only let you play while you’re physically in the province, so every regulated app checks where you are before it lets you in.

If an app says you’re “out of area” or won’t load:

1. Allow location access for that app in your phone’s settings.
2. Turn off any VPN.
3. Move away from the border. Near Quebec, Manitoba or the US, your phone can place you outside Ontario.
4. Switch from mobile data to Wi-Fi, or the other way round.

How to spot an unregulated casino app

Some casino apps in the app stores aren’t regulated in Ontario. Before you download one, search the brand on iGaming Ontario’s register and check the developer name in the store matches the operator.

Also watch for “social casino” apps. They look almost identical but use virtual coins, so you can’t withdraw anything.
